The final report "Towards an Action Plan for Canada - Our Vision, Values and Actions" was released March 31, 2006. This final version presents the dialogue participants' collective vision for Canada, and the recommended actions and responsibilities assigned for these actions.

We encourage dialogue participants and all interested citizens to send the report link to your fellow co-workers, students, volunteers, friends and families.

Despite all the talk about Canada's changing demography, its aging society and generation gaps, there is little evidence of youth engagement in policy development. Instead, there are signs of disaffection from the political process, an example of which is the low turnout of youth in elections.

The ongoing impact of many public policy decisions means that youth of today will be the ones living with the results of those decisions. Engaging young Canadians on what they see as the key policy issues of today and the future, understanding their hopes, expectations, and what they are prepared to commit to, and the values that underpin the choices they make, promises more sustainable and legitimate policies.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, CPRN organized and hosted a three-day National Dialogue and Summit to bring the voices of young adults [ages 18-25] into Canada's national conversation about our future together. The event took place November 24-27, 2005, in Ottawa.

At the three-day gathering, 150 young people had an intense dialogue, first with each other and then with 40 decision-makers from the public, community and private sectors. The broad theme of their conversation was: "What kind of Canada do we want? What do we and others have to do to make our vision a reality?" To make the discussion more concrete, the dialogue probed four broad issues young people identified as especially important: learning, work, environment and health.
