The second of the Social Architecture Papers has been written by Gerard Boychuk, who teaches in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo. He provides an introduction to and comparison of the various policy logics that have informed major social policies since the 1950s in Canada, that is, health, education, and income maintenance. In addition to providing a careful analysis of the Canadian situation, his paper also is an invaluable source of cross-time quantitative information about spending levels and the distribution of benefits within the Canadian social model.
