Connecting with Canadians
Training for the New Economy - A Synthesis Report
This synthesis report, based on the results of a major CPRN research project, outlines a framework for skills development and discusses the roles of individuals, employers, training providers, and government. It begins by examining the emerging job structure and the ways in which employment is being transformed. This analysis empirically demonstrates that a strong skills base and continuous learning are becoming more critical all the time. Yet it reveals that too many Canadians are not getting the necessary training opportunities. The authors argue that the way forward rests with extending and fine-tuning the training "market" that has emerged in the 1990's.
